The First Three Big Mistakes golfers make when trying to improve

Below you’ll find a video with John Richardson and Andy Brown. And this is a must see video because in it John Richardson reveals the top 3 reasons why golfers fail to improve. Make sure you watch right the way to the end too because when you fix the 3rd “mistake” you’ll undoubtedly lower your score the next game you you play.

Now who is John Richardson?

John is a golfer from Northern Ireland. And he was the typical golfer who shoots over 100, works full-time, has a family etc., etc. But John set a huge goal to shoot par or break par within a year and here were his rules for this challenge:

There must be a witness present
The course must be par 70 or more
The course must be at least 6000 yards
Don’t get divorced
Don’t go bankrupt or lose his business

Sam Torrance told John to “Dream On” and Darren Clarke said ‘Three years would be a realistic minimum’ to break par!

Well John shot a round of 70 (1 under par) – just 362 days after shooting 103! He achieved this while working full time, looking after the family etc. so if you’re in a similar situation to John and want to improve your golf game a lot then listen to what he has to say very carefully.

Over the last 4 years or so since John achieved his goal he has written a best selling book, is going to have a movie made about his year long journey AND he’s helped hundreds of golfers in his Break Par Blueprint Program to make massive improvements to their golf games too. But over the last 4 years John has identified 10 main mistakes that stop golfers from improving like they really want.

With John’s permission I’m lucky enough to be able to share these videos with you that will reveal these 10 top mistakes. And in this first video John shares the top 3 main mistakes golfers make when they try to improve. So watch this video and then leave your comments below.

About John Richardson: John is from Northern Ireland.  And as an average golfer he set an extraordinary goal of shooting par or better within a year.  His first round to kick off the challenge was 103.  And then 362 days later he shot 70!  Everything John did to achieve this goal is explained in full detail in this Break Par Blueprint Program which is perfect for the “average” golfer that want’s to make a big improvement to their golf game.

BELLY PUTTERS are HOT!

Keagan Bradley, a PGA Tour rookie, made history this week in Atlanta using a belly putter! He won the 93rd U.S. PGA championship using a BELLY PUTTER. Almost immediately, sales for the Bellyputt.com extension kit went through the roof and the bellyputter gained PRO status in the golfing community! ...

Instead of paying hundreds of dollars for a belly putter, golfers now have a $39.99 option that allows them to "try it out" and decide for themselves if this is for them. It's so easy to attach to any putter that there's no frustration and the ability to get on the course with it immediately. Or in the office if they have one of those indoor practice putting greens....and an understanding boss.

Speed Up Your Golf Swing Right Where It Matters

You want to your golf swing to be the fastest right at impact, right?
Well, here’s a great drill that will teach you to swing the fastest at the bottom of your golf swing. To do this drill, simply set up to an imaginary ball as you normally would and then swing back at 10% of your normal pace. Then start your downswing at 10% of your normal pace. Or in other words….swing really slowly! BUT when you get to about 2 feet away from where a ball would be try to swing as fast as you possibly can.
When doing this feel the club hitting you on the back at the end of your golf swing. Swing through as hard and as fast as you possibly can. Do about 25 swings like this for 30 days and you won’t believe the difference in the distance you get from your shots when you swing normally.

Physical Pre-Shot Routine For Consistent Golf Shots

For your golf game to be more consistent and more like a top golf pro you must create and habitualize a consistent physical pre-shot routine. And when you create a physical pre-shot routine here are some key things you should do…
1. Always start your physical pre-shot routine directly behind your ball.
2. Have your grip set to go before you address the ball.
3. Pick out an intermediate target to align your clubface to.
4. Have a waggle in your physical routine to keep movement up and to help keep you relaxed and ready to go.
5. Always make sure you look at your final target before swinging the club.
6. Have a physical swing trigger to signal the start of your golf swing.

Once you create a physical pre-shot routine it’s a good idea to write the steps down so that you can always refer back to it if you forget. Having said that, you should practice your physical pre-shot routine over and over to make sure you don’t forget.
The goal when practicing your physical pre-shot routine is so that on the course you don’t have to worry about where you’re positioning the ball, aligning or how your grip is. Because they will just happen naturally from you following your physical pre-shot routine that you’ve created.

How Hard To Grip The Golf Club

When you swing the golf club you need to keep a solid and firm grip on the club to have any sort of golfing consistency and success. There are many different “ideas” on how hard you should grip the golf club, e.g. hold the grip as though you’re holding a baby bird OR hold the grip as tight as you would a loaf of bread etc., etc. But the bottom line really is not so much how hard you hold the grip but it’s how hard you don’t hold it.
You see, in an ideal world you should hold the golf grip just hard enough so it doesn’t slip or move around when you swing. How hard that is will vary from golfer to golfer as we’re all different. If you have very strong hands then you may not need to hold the golf grip as hard as, say, an elderly lady. So the defining line on how hard to golf grip a club is by how much it moves and here’s a great way to determine your golf grip movement.

Line up 7 balls in a row on tees and then start at the first ball and hit it and don’t alter your golf grip and then hit the next ball and the next one. If you come to a point when you can’t hit the ball because your golf grip is nothing like it should be then you know that your golf grip has slipped when you’ve swung. If you can’t hit the second shot because of your grip movement then you’ve got a grip slippage problem that needs fixing fast.
The main key to your grip slipping will most probably be due to your top hand moving. So here’s a simple exercise you can do to help fix this.

Grip the golf club as normal. But just before you swing place a golf tee between the pad of your left hand and the golf grip. Now this golf tee should be securely in place by the pressure that you’re placing on the golf grip with your left hand. Once it is you simply need to swing as normal and keep the tee in place.
Naturally this can only happen if you don’t move your top hand grip. And this will happen naturally just by you being aware of the golf tee and trying to keep it in place. Then after some practice with this exercise go back and do the 7 ball exercise and see if you’ve improved your grip security. I’m sure you will find you have improved it. So try this golf grip drill and see for yourself.

Golf Grip Advice For Longer, Straighter And More Consistent Golf Shots

How you grip the club has a huge affect on the golf shots you hit. But don’t let anyone tell you that there is one golf grip that everyone should use, because that is simply not true. You’ve just got to look at professional golfers to see this. For example, Ben Hogan used a weak grip to help combat a hook problem. Nick Faldo uses a neutral grip. Then John Daly uses a strong golf grip.
Now you’ve probably heard that the weakness/strength of your golf grip is related to where the V’s of your hands are pointing. But I’ve got a much better way to check your grip and find out what works best for you.
First of all, get a semi permanent felt tip pin and draw circles about 1 cm above your top hand’s knuckles. So for a right handed golfer you would do this on your left hand. For a left handed golfer you would do this on your right hand.
Now simply practice taking your grip and see what your grip feels like when you can see 1 knuckle, then 2 knuckles, then 3 knuckles on your top hand. Also do this exercise with your feet together. By doing this you’ll always have a reference position that you can easily repeat.

By the way, a 1 knuckle grip is considered a weak golf grip, a 2 knuckle grip is considered a neutral golf grip, and a 3 knuckle grip is considered a strong golf grip.
After you’ve setup with each grip then hit balls with each of these golf grips. Incidentally when placing your bottom hand on the grip simply let it go along with what the top hand is doing. And do this so that the groove in the middle of your bottom hand fit’s snugly into your top hands thumb.
Now if you struggle in hitting one particular shot, i.e. a slice or hook, here’s some advice that will help you.
If you slice the ball a lot you should tend towards a stronger golf grip, e.g. 3 to 4 knuckles showing on the top hand. And conversely if you hook the ball a lot you should move towards a weaker grip, e.g. 1-2 knuckles showing.
But the bottom line is to experiment.
Once you’ve got a good golf grip that works well for you always check it regularly to make sure you’re doing the same thing. Because over time your golf grip can easily become stronger or weaker without you noticing. Also one final thought. Have a system of setting up so you check your golf grip strength as part of your pre-shot routine. Doing this will help to create greater consistency in your game on an ongoing basis.

Callaway Golf - Diablo Edge Irons

The Diablo Edge irons provide increased distance without compromising feel or performance. The lower, deeper center of gravity (CG) makes the sweet spot more accessible and is in line with where amateurs most commonly hit the ball on the clubface, generating longer, consistent distance and improved accuracy.

Features
A lower, deeper CG is designed to make the sweet spot more accessible at lower
impact locations. This generates longer, more consistent distance and improves
accuracy for more greens in regulation.

Delivering smooth turf interaction, the sole is designed to mitigate the effects of
heavy and thin shots and improve the impact location on the face for greater
distance.

Callaway Golf core technologies like VFT, S2H2, a 360-Degree Undercut Channel
and Modified Tru-Bore work together to maximize distance, feel and playability.

How to check your back swing?

On the driving range you often see golfers swinging and then stopping at the top of their back swing to see if the club is in the correct position or not. But this is a very hard and not very accurate way of telling if your top of the swing position is correct or not.
If in the past you’ve struggled to know if your golf back swing is correct or not then today you’re going to get a great golf drill that will allow you to quickly and easily check your golf back swing.
To do this golf drill you simply have to swing back to the top of it and stop and hold your back swing position for a couple of seconds. Then from this position simply slowly loosen your grip and let the shaft fall down.
Now if the club hits you on the tip of your right shoulder that tells you that your golf back swing is in a good position. But if the club misses your body altogether that indicates that your golf back swing is too flat. And conversely if your club hits your head or neck that indicates that your back swing is too upright.
Book Your Tee Time 24/7 and Save on Warm Weather Golf Destinations in the Colorado River Phoenix, AZ Area only at GolfNow.com!
If after doing this back swing exercise you find that your top of the position is not where it should be then please don’t do this…
Do not try to manipulate what is happening near the top of your back swing to get the club in a good position, because you must understand that the golf swing is a chain reaction.
The position you get into at impact is the result of the downswing position that you were in. The position you get into in the downswing is a result of how you transitioned from your back swing to the downswing. The position you get into at the top of your back swing is simply the result of the position you were in half way into it. Where the club is half way into your back swing is simply the result of how you took the club away. And finally, the way you took the club away is largely a result of your setup.
So you see, you can’t take one position in your golf swing and try and fix that because the positions that you got into before that determined the future positions. Instead what you need to do is systematically work on getting each phase of the swing the best it can be, working from the setup, take away and on from there. If you do that you’ll naturally and automatically get into a great top of the back swing position.

Two Great Golf Tips For Better Golf Alignment

Alignment when setting up to hit a golf ball has a critical affect on how good your golf shots are going to turn out. Maybe you believe that, maybe you don’t.  To help you decide read what a golf legend has to say on this alignment issue…
“It goes without saying that it is no good having a perfect setup, perfect grip and perfect golf swing if the whole thing is misaligned. It sounds obvious but many players simply do not spend enough time getting themselves on target.”
Nick Faldo – Winner of 6 Major Championships
So golf alignment is critically important and here’s a simple exercise that you can quickly and easily do to check your feet alignment.
To do this golf alignment exercise setup to a golf shot as normal and get comfortable. Then just before you’re ready to hit your shot, get two golf balls and without moving your feet place them directly behind your heels so they’re touching your feet. Now take your feet away and go back behind your ball down the line of your target and see how good your alignment was.
The beauty of doing this golf alignment exercise is that it shows you exactly where you are aligning your feet and then you can simply change the golf balls so they align correctly and then setup with these balls touching your heels. If your feet have been aligned incorrectly for a while then it will feel quite strange when you align them correctly. But keep practicing and before long, your new feet golf alignment will become second nature.
So that is a great and easy way to check the alignment of your feet. But you still have to check the alignment of your knees, hips and shoulders as they also have a big affect on your golf shots success. And the absolute best way of checking this is to get a person to get a golf club and lay it across each part of your body once you’ve setup to a shot. But remember, you want each part of your body to be aligned parallel to the starting line of your golf shot.
You do NOT want your body to be aligned directly at your target. A good way to picture this is to imagine yourself setting up to hit a golf shot on railway tracks. Imagine the golf ball on one rail and you’re standing on the other rail.
Golf alignment is critical to your success and consistency so check it often, because it’s very easy to align yourself incorrectly without even knowing. But now you know exactly what you need to do to check your alignment so you have no excuse. So please make an effort to check it often…because it can only do your golf game good.

2011 Golf Digest Hot List - Game-Improvement Irons

ADAMS IDEA BLACK CB2

Tech Spec : These irons have progressive offset to help golfers optimize trajectory throughout the set. (The long irons, for example, are designed with slightly more offset to assist in launching the ball higher.) Although the sole widths are consistent, the bounce increases from long to short irons to minimize fat shots.

Reviews : "One of the best-looking irons out here. This is a club that will let you become a player." ... "Slam it down on the ground any way you want, and it will sit square.".."The sound at impact is solid. It has a lot of feedback. Perfect medium-high ball flight."

CALLAWAY DIABLO FORGED

Tech Spec : The undercut cavity is designed to improve clubhead stability on off-center hits. The purpose of the Carpenter 455 forged-steel face is to optimize distance yet retain a soft feel.

Reviews :  "As long and forgiving as the rest of these clubs, but you can really put the ball where you want to." ... "The topline isn't too big. It has a crisp sound and solid feel. It felt heavy when I picked it up, but it was way more balanced when I hit it."

CALLAWAY RAZR X

Tech Spec : Thirty grams of weight have been repositioned toward the rear of the club to produce a center of gravity (CG) 12 percent lower and 15 percent deeper than last year's X-22. Taking away the undercut in the heel and toe areas creates a high moment of inertia (MOI) to improve ball speed on off-center strikes.

Reviews : "The muted sound at impact reminds me of the old Fusions. It's not an offensive sound, just different. Pleasant, actually. Produces a high ball flight, but not too high. An extremely forgiving iron."

Seve Ballesteros RIP!

(Reuters) - Seve Ballesteros, one of golf's most charismatic players who was renowned for his fist-pumping energy and magical shot-making, died on Saturday at the age of 54 after a long battle with brain cancer.
The Spaniard with the matinee idol looks, who won five major titles in swashbuckling style and inspired a generation of players worldwide, died peacefully at his home in Pedrena, northern Spain, his family said in a statement.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday.
Tributes came pouring in, with Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods talking about Ballesteros's unique talent and influence and Nick Faldo describing him as golf's "greatest show on earth".
"Today golf lost a great champion and a great friend," 18-times major champion Nicklaus said in a statement. "We also lost a great entertainer and ambassador for our sport.
"It was his creativity, his imagination and his desire to compete that made him so popular. Seve's enthusiasm was just unmatched by anybody I think that ever played the game."
A winner of three British Opens and two Masters titles, Ballesteros gave golf a much-needed lift in the mid-to-late 1970s.
Along with Briton Tony Jacklin, he was also chiefly responsible for reviving Europe's fortunes in the Ryder Cup team competition.
A man of humble background, he became a father figure for Spanish golf and replaced American Arnold Palmer as the game's most flamboyant and charismatic figure.
Ballesteros won 87 titles worldwide, 50 of them on the European Tour, and captained Europe to Ryder Cup victory at Valderrama in Spain in 1997.
He claimed his first major in the 1979 British Open at Royal Lytham, earning the tag of 'car park champion' after conjuring remarkable rescue shots from all parts of the course.
WALL SHOT
Billy Foster, one of his former caddies, told Reuters he remembered trying to dissuade Ballesteros from going for a seemingly impossible shot from behind an eight-foot (2.5-metre) wall at a tournament in Switzerland.
"He waved me away and proceeded to hit a wedge with half a backswing over the wall, through some trees where there was a tiny gap the size of a dinner plate, over a swimming pool, over 60-foot trees, and got it five yards short of the green and then chipped in," said Briton Foster.
"Seve just laughed and I got down on my hands and knees and bowed to him."
Former world number one Woods, winner of 14 majors, was "deeply saddened" to learn of the Spaniard's death.
"Seve was one of the most talented and exciting golfers to ever play the game," Woods said on Twitter.
"His creativity and inventiveness on the golf course may never be surpassed. His death came much too soon."
Faldo, a six-times major winner, said in a statement: "He was a leader; bringing the spotlight to the European Tour, paving the way to European success at the U.S. Masters and bringing his relentless passion to the Ryder Cup.
"For golf he was the greatest show on earth. I was a fan and so fortunate I had a front row seat."
The death of Ballesteros was poignantly felt at the Spanish Open being played in Terrassa in the north east of the country where players wore black ribbons and observed a minute's silence.
While flags at the course were flying at half-mast, Jose Maria Olazabal and Miguel Angel Jimenez embraced on the practice range at the start of the day as they remembered their friend and compatriot.
From the age of seven, Ballesteros used a cut-down three-iron on the beach near his home in Santander and this helped him master the art of the manufactured shot from just off the green.
His brilliant, and often miraculous, shot-making dazzled generations of players around the world.
"I've always said most of us could shoot 65 in about 30 or 40 ways," Zimbabwe's former world number one Nick Price said in a statement. "He could do it about 10,000 different ways.
"He could miss every fairway, chip in five times, hole two bunker shots. He was so creative around the greens."
UNIQUE LEGACY
European Tour chief executive George O'Grady said Ballesteros was an inspiration as a player and as a man.
"Seve's unique legacy must be the inspiration he has given to so many to watch, support and play golf and finally to fight a cruel illness with equal flair, passion and fierce determination," O'Grady said in a statement.
"We have all been so blessed to live in his era. He was the inspiration behind the European Tour."
International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge described Ballesteros as a "once in a generation athlete" in his sport.
"Seve Ballesteros was a man of incredible skill, charisma and courage as a sportsman and the dignified way he fought against his disease was characteristic of the man and was an inspiration to us all," Rogge said in a statement.
Britain's Graeme McDowell, the U.S. Open champion, said on Twitter: "One of my favourite lines I have read (today) ... 'Apparently God needed a short-game lesson'. RIP Seve."
Ballesteros's brain tumour was discovered when he collapsed at Madrid airport in late 2008 and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
He had four operations and a course of chemotherapy, appearing in public again for the first time in 2009.
"Today, at 2.10 a.m. Spanish time, Seve Ballesteros passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home in Pedrena," the family said on Saturday.

Watch golf video on YouTube

Hi! when i was first starting out, i used to watch lots of  how to golf video on YouTube. there are plenty of videos like how to draw the ball, cure your slice, swing like tiger, etc etc...
I think they provide u some form of education for yr game, I think it help me a little, cos i will watch some vid and then rush to the driving range to try it out. Some did provide some improvement to my game.

I also think that watch a slowmo video on tiger swing will help u improve, as it will subconsciously improve yr timing and posture if u keep watching how the expert do it...
This is just some of my experiences... hope it will help!
